Tired, over worked and just generally stressed out? Explore nature with your best friend and find yourself again. No crowds, no traffic jams, no electric fences or high walls. In a woodland valley, between a tranquil stream and the foothills of the ancient Magaliesberg Mountians, lies Saamrus.

The fresh air might be just what you need to finally be able to sleep and rest. We don't mind if you sleep all weekend long and never go for a walk. Just remember to come back for a longer stay next time so that you have time for both. You will be woken up by birdsong in the mornings and be fascinated by the variety of sounds you hear in the evening, while sitting around the braai. Saamrus is truly a bird lovers paradise.

We provide pet friendly, private, fully contained self catering cottages. Each cottage is fenced, for the dogs. All cottages have showers, and some also have baths. There are ceiling fans and wall heaters, for comfort in winter or summer.

All cottages are private, and some are very secluded. The cottages are situated far apart or are screened off for privacy. For those who know how to be romantic, we have two seater cement baths in our four new cottages. Some even have a view from the bath. We supply candles in the cottages not only for power failures, but also for romantic dinners. Our smaller, two sleeper cottages have a fireplace in the bedroom for those long cozy winter nights.

Tarentaal & Kiewiet ( sleep 2 each) are cozy, thatched rondawels with lots of indigenous trees around them, abundant bird life, and views toward the woodland koppie. The main room has two three quarter beds, dining table and chairs, and two lounge chairs next to the fireplace. There is a shower only in the charming rock built bathroom. Next to the private braai are table,chairs and an umbrella. They have a long history of many pleasant and relaxing weekends enjoyed by regular guests. R 275 pppn sharing.

Karee & Olienhout ( sleep 2 each ) are lovely cottages, situated far apart, for the sake of privacy, are just right for that romantic, or peaceful weekend away. Each has a large bedroom / living room with king size bed (or two single beds), and a fireplace in the bedroom. The bathroom has a view of the mountains in the distance, and a two seater cement bath - with shower over the bath. The panoramic 360 degree view gives one a wonderful feeling of freedom and space! Akasia (Sleeps 2 - 4 people) is a one bedroom cottage with a king size bed, (or two single beds), in the bedroom, and a double sleeper couch (or divan bed) in the living room. For the sake of privacy, the bathroom is off the passage with doors closing on both sides towards the bedroom and living room. This bathroom has a two seater bath, with a shower over the bath. Hoephoep (Sleeps 2 - 6 people) is a very spacious and very private cottage, situated at the foot of the hill, close to the river walks. It has dense indigenous trees behind it and a meadow, in front. The large bedroom has a king size bed, (or two single beds). The bedroom has a french door onto the veranda. The open plan living room / kitchen / dining room also has french doors to the veranda, and the braai area. There is an extra double bed sleeper couch in the lounge, as well as a loft sleeping area above the bathroom featuring a two seater cement bath with a view of the forest. The shower is over the bath. The bathroom is accessed via the passage, which links the living room and bedroom, ensuring optimal privacy. Suikerbos (Sleeps 2 - 6 people) is popular for its large wooden deck with wide open views of the surrounding mountains. This was our first cottage on the hill and people keep on returning to it for its views, comfort and privacy. It has two en-suite bedrooms (showers only). The bedrooms both have double beds. Two divan beds offer sleeping for two more people in the open plan living room area. There is a six seater dining table and chairs in the living room, and on the deck for family dining.
