Nestled in the foothills of the Northern parts of the Majestic Drakensberg lies Bingelela.
Situated on a farm, a mere 3km from Bergville on the R74, our establishment can be found 3 hours from Johannesburg and 2.5 hours from Durban. There is no better halfway rest over on this scenic route.
Whether you choose to run in for a refreshing drink, a light lunch or if you wish to stay over for a few nights, the Bingelela experience will stay with you for a long time. Our guests often arrive as guests but leave as friends and this is proof of the homely hospitality, offered by the owners, Joss & Paula Joubert.
Always keen to innovate, Joss & Paula has created a stylish yet cosy haven for food lovers & travellers in this area. The old farmhouse & buildings has been beautifully converted into a wonderful setting for intimate dinners by candlelight in winter. The Al Fresco restaurant area overlooks an inviting swimming pool. This all allows guests with choice of spots to unwind and soak up the lively yet relaxing vibe. We also have a playground for the children and they too can enjoy the pool at their own leisure. It is our aim to ensure that all of our valued guests will have a memorable time at Bingelela!
Over the years, we have added 12 thatched rondawel style cottages and we can accommodate up to 35 people quite comfortably. Our cottages are serviced on a daily basis and apart from being en-suite they are also equipped with television, tea/coffee facilities and small fridges. Our cottages sleep from 2 to 5 people and our rates will certainly not break the bank. Bingelela is ideal for those who want to get away from the hustle & bustle of the city or those keen to explore the Northern & Central Parts of the Drakensberg.

The menu offers a great variety of choices and each dish is meticulously prepared with fresh produce from our local suppliers. Directions from JHB
Take the N3 toward Durban. At Harrismith leave the N3 and head towards Bethelehem on the N5 Coming out of Harrismith, find the Bergville turn of to your left, following the alternative route to Durban(R74) After 9km, turn left again to stay on the R74 and pass Sterkfontein Dam, travel down Oliviershoek Pass and carry on for another approx. 50km on the R74. You will find Bingelela just off the R74 on your left.
Directions from Durban
Travel towards Estcourt on the N3. Shortly after the Shell garage, you will find a turn off toward Winterton/Bergville (R74) Turn left at the top of the bridge and follow that road for approximately 50km. Pass through Winterton – never turning, and follow the road onwards to Bergville. Travel through Bergville and you will find 4km out of Bergville on the Right hand side
